Can i replace an electronic coil,on a "points saw"? will it work?

I have an 028 Sthil.. Made in 79,,,Its a points saw,,,so i installed an electronic coil on it,,bypassing the points..it now skips .Do i need an "electronic" flywheel?

Are the points completely disconnected? Usually, they share the 'kill' wire. If they are still in the circuit, they will intefere with the electronic coil. Just cut the wire between the coil and points. And change the plug for a new one.
