Briggs and Stratton pull cord snapped?

I have a Briggs & Stratton HP470. The pull cord has snaped, How do I replace it?
Peter, June 2008
Hayter Harrier 48 Mower – with a 4HP B&S Engine I have had to replace Starter “String a couple of times until I increased the size/strength of cord.
Top – 2 Screws (cover)
Top – Oil Fill / Drain Cap
Top – 3 x ¼ AF (6 mm) Bolts
Behind Fuel Tap – 1 x 3/8 AF (10 mm) Bolt
Rubber Washer
Spacer
Opposite – Throttle cable clip
Then lift Fuel Tank and put to carburettor side
Around Cover – 3 x 7/16 AF (11mm) Bolts with washers
Front – Screw (8mm) Throttle cable clip.
Back – 2 x ¼ AF (6 mm) (Oil Filler Pipe)
Top Cover then lifts off
- Carefully bend back a retaining clip (If it breaks there appears to be 2 spare) and lift ‘string’ pulley.
- Release return spring
- Push through or Prise off top of ‘T’ Pull Handle
- Fit new string (at least 1 metre long)
And reassemble in reverse order. (Hah Hah!)

Remove cowling and recoil unti complete. Recoil can then be stripped and repaired.
