how can I make my replacement sliding door match the original?

I have stanley fitted sliding wardrobe doors in my two bedrooms, owing to an accident when I fell against the biggest-well it had to be!) it got bent out of shape and fell off its runners. We got a new stanley door but it was brown, where my doors are white with 4 gold and white trims on each door. My husband has painted the door and it is now white but it will never match the other door without the panels of gold and white trim. I have suggested to him he prise off the trims and reapply them to the new door, but he is a bit doubtful, and i have tried looking on the internet for a company that sells stick on trims for doors. I know that now its a bit of a naff fashion idea, but I just want the doors to match up. Also if he doesn`t want to take the trims off the old door, how am I going to persuade him to take them off the other door so that they are both a plain match. Help! All I know is they are stanley bedroom wardrobe doors, the previous occupant put them in, so no model number available, they are white with gold trims.
