This fixed my Maytag MTD09WH dryer with an f04 error. Had to pick the red paint out of the hole first. Thanks John.

The pin in the back of the thermal cut-out is a fantastic tip. Fixed my Hotpoint tunmble dryer. Thanks

Yes the pin in the hole definately works !
Thank you for that , it saved me buying a new one.

Found two new sensors on Amazon for less than a fiver, fitted and all working ok.

THEN i read Johns post!

Yup, pushed a pin in the hole of the old one (quite hard) and click, its working again.

Cheers John, i now have a spare set :)

the overheat thermostat type 261pb in the machine I serviced was open circuit and it was found that a small hole in the back between terminals was the reset. Inserting a pin into the hole and pressing reset the device
other than that the kit of two thermostats was quite expensive.

A part4u.com has video tutorials on how to troubleshoot and fix equipment and sells parts for most makes and models of kitchen and household appliances, try there or fixya.com

Check high heat Thermostat under cover at rear (where the heating elements are). The sensor has a Red spot in the middle with 150 degees centigrade marked on it.
The make is probably ELTH type 261/PB
