I have a Scantronic 9448+ house alarm that I inherited when I moved into my house and I have no instructions for it. Everytime the main power fails it goes off and you have to wait until either the power comes back on or the outside battery runs flat to turn it off. We have just recently brought a brand new back up battery for it and still it goes off. Our neighbours are getting very cross with us. Is there anyway we can disconnect the main power going to it?

Ideally it should be wired through a fused spur, so remove the fuse from the spur, remove the back-up battery and disconnect the battery in the external sounder, or just let it run down. Then get hold of an installation manual and reset it to factory defaults and reprogram the system.
