i just fitted a gearbox to my wifes nissan micra 1.0l 16v 1994, on finishing the job i went to put the drive shafts in but then found that the actual splines in the gear box to accept the drive shafts had fallen inside the box along with the diff crown gears! any ideas why? and how i could repair it? I am baffled how it would do this.
I am about to buy Nissan Micra S Auto 2000 998cc,it appears the gear box require repais or replacement please advise how much it will cost.

HI most planet gears can actually spin in the carrier so you can no longer put the drive shafts in.
When i rebuild a gearbox i put a piece of cardboard in oneside to hold the planet gears in place until i have got a driveshaft in then i can remove it then get the other side in.
I,m afraid its a box out and strip down job to set them up again.
