Hotpoint Aquarius+ making god awful noise on emptying?

Hi

6 month old, Aquarius+ washer/dryer WD640. Noticed a 'ticking' noise a month or so ago when the drum was rotating. Now there is this awful grinding noise when it is pumping out, either on the wash or dry cycles. It's like a really loud vibrating/grinding racket. Do I call Hotpoint, as it's still under warranty, or is there something quick & easy I can do myself (with the help of my retired electrical engineer dad)? The manual makes no reference at all to such a noise being likely due to X or Y or Z, or what action to take if it happens. I daren't mention it to dad yet or he'll have it in bits in minutes!

Many thanks

Pam

Many, many thanks. I'll get dad on the job as there is no access from the front. Boy will he be pleased!

Machines that make a God Awful noise when emptying usually have something in the pump that shouldn't be there, such as a nail screw or money. In fact anything that may have been left in a pocket.
There may be a 4" access plate which needs to be removed from the lower front face of the machine . If there is no access plate you will have to tip the machine backwards to get underneath it.
You can't do this on your own. Get your Dad.
There is usually a removable plate or cover underneath the pump which will allow you to remove the foreign object without having to take the pump of the machine. Be aware, when you remove the pump cover approx 1 pint of water will escape from the pump. Make sure the pump cover does not leak when you restart the machine. Slide a newspaper underneath next time the machine is used to check for leaks
