My mower will not turn over and start?

I have a weedeater 4.75 with a Briggs engine. It was left by the previous home owners. When I try to start it will not start. When I primed it it started but did not turn over. It cut off after about 3 seconds. The only way to get it to even do anything is to prime it and then it will start but not turn over.

If it will burn off the prime and then die, you have a fuel supply problem.

If it's the carb-on-the-tank type engine, replace the diaphragm.

If it's the Quantum type (air filter and carb on the side of the engine), remove the float chamber, and check the main jet is clear. Carb will need to come off the engine for access.

Have you tried replacing the spark plug(s)? Or changing the oil? You should also put gas in it. If you've done all these things and it still won't start, idk what to tell you.
