Murray 425000x8a?

My murray starter keeps turning over even when the mower is going. You are not able to turn it off unless you disconnect the red (positive) cable on the battery. Then once you try to reconnect the positive cable the mower will try to restart, even if the key is not in the ignition.

My lawnmower will not start I have power from the battery to the solenoid. I dont have power on the other side of the solenoid when i try and start it. I took off the solenoid and checked ohms from the small red plug on it and to where the small ground wire connects and i got short. Is this what i should have gotten?

the starter solenoid is stuck in the start position. it needs to be replaced. you can tap it sometime and it will release and allow you to control starting with the key switch.
