HOW DO I DISMANTLE A HOOVER TELIOS 1800?

I have a Hoover Telios 1800 and I want to clean out the motor area because it's full of dust. I've found the two screws at the front but there must be another one or more at the back (Big wheel end). I've poked around but I don't want to cause damage. Can anyone please help?

Excellent. Would never have found that 8th screw inside the spring!.

In the Telios 1700 there are 8 screws total, as there are 4 under the power cable and switch panels. 2 are obvious, one is next to the cable release panel spring, and the other is in the center of the power switch panel spring

Hi Chris,

Thanks also from me, who needed to dismantle a Telios 1300. Someone had been using it with the wrong bag and the whole interior had dust blown all through it: the on/off switch was bunged with dust and wouldn't stay on. I managed to dismantle and clean it so now it's perfect again. Saved my father from buying a whole new vacuum cleaner. Thanks again for the info

Chris, you are a Champion!! Sat here for 2 hours wondering how to get the machine opened up as the cord would not release, and the wife was giving me little help, then read your answer and in a few minutes have solved problem.
Thanks friend.

There are 6 screws that must be removed. Two in handle at the front, two in the dust bag enclosure and two concealed under the button panels on the upper surface of the unit: If you look closely, in the midpoint of the crack between the power and cord retract button panels and the exhaust grill in the centre of the upper surface of the machine you will see a plastic clip (more obvious if you remove the exhaust grill/filter). This clip keeps the plastic panels in place. To remove each button panel, slide a flat head screwdriver to displace the clip and simultaneously slide the panel horizontally in the direction of the bottom of the hoover. Once the button panels are removed, the retaining screws are obvious (one clearly exposed on the right and within the form that keeps the spring in place on the left.)
