How to install drive belt on john deere 240?

The belt otself seems like it could go on fairly easy. But there is a wire going to yhe bottom of the engine that prevents the old shredded one from being able to be taken off and the new one installed. How do I deal with this wire and connection??

Follow the wire next to the frame .There should be a plug you can unplug.Mine was hiding under some old dirt.
