What is the method of removing the hot and cold soleniod valves off the Fisher and Paykel Smart drive 708 washing machine...step by step ?

Ken G, January 2013
I cannot get continuous water to run into the washing machine. The solinoid turns on / off a couple of times then the machine goes into fault mode. I turn the power off then back on again. I then set the wash cycles and the machine just does the same again, over and over.

Thanks for the help Frank - with your answer I was able to fix our washing machine, my wife thanks you.

One additional thing I learnt when buying a replacement solenoid, the cold is a variable solenoid, where the hot was binary (on or off), so if anyone get's tempted to swap them - beware.

Paul, August 2006
There are two solenoid water valves in the 051 (where the hot and cold water hoses attach.) These solenoids can fail or deteriorate, and aren't too difficult to replace. Be very careful if you attempt this yourself since this is one of few places where water and electricity are in close proximity. Another thing to consider is that if the temperature setting (hot/warm/cold) can't get the right mix of hot vs cold, then the smart bits limit the rate of water (only if you select warm/hot or live in near freezing climate).
