I have a Volvo V70 (1998) with a manufacturer's fitted alarm which goes off without any valid reason when the car is parked. Is there anything I can do to rectify this fault please?

have a check in the alarm interior sensors it has been known if they're dirty this may set it off

If you lock your car with the key instead of using the remote the alarm is not armed

Had same problem. I diconnected the bonnet release sensor inside the engine bay - it's on the rhs as you look at the engine from the front, attached to the bonnet catch. The alarm will not arm itself if any door or portal is open. You won't have an alarm, but it won't go off either. Who wants to steal a 10 year old Volvo anyway?

Check all your windows are fully shut. A little wind can get in and set off alarm.
