hi my renault scenic 99T is knocking whilst accelerating round left hand bends and normal driving, i was told suspension bearings £80 job done still knocking,then told passenger side driveshaft £150 job done still knocking 3 garages all say its not my ball joints plz plz help me this is costing a fortune ive been quoted £65 for ball joints doing but they dont think its that what else could it be?

I had a knocking when putting in drive, I thought it was gearbox but it turned out to be one of my engine mounting was broke. Part was about £30 plus 15 mins garage labour total about £50.

i have the same problem took the car to a friends garage he first thought it might be strut bearings but when he put it up on the lift found it to be anti roll bar bushes had worn cost of parts £14

engine mount wear fatigue sounds like drivers side mount.
Get someone to shim up the mount both ps and ds to try to eleviate the noise if this does the you need to replac mounts but not neccessarily a costly adventure or emergency.
Could still be a simple ball joint problem given mechs are notorious for wanting your cash first.

scenic 1.9 dci knocking from osf area on left turns.
Fault is due to rh engine mounting looks ok no split on top. take mounting off and you will see split under neath, Mounting made of silicone which when splits leaks out and allows the mounting to drop slightly causing engine bracket on engine to touch engine mouting fixed section (Anti Rock).
Quick short term fix is to place a washer between engine bracket and mounting to lift bracket off mouting . New Mounting about £86.00 Renault only no factors. All made of aluminium. scenic 1.9 dci 2001..

had the same problem on my 99 scenic had to change the rear engine mounting cost £60 and very easy to do yourself no more problems. problem was when you aply drive the engine and all parts rock back under drive causing unwanted movement rubbing of body and drive having to work under unusual angles

i had similar thing on my 2001 1.9 tdi scenic it was knocking/rubbing when turning right. turned out it was the engine mount on offside, and when turning the engine weight was shifting to the left and causing the noise. cant help on repair costs as mine was under warranty. hope this helps

tough one.probably would have went same way.suspect suspension top mount/bearing.drown shock mount under bonnet inner wing where bolts come thru with wd40 while rotating steering l-r.do same under wheel arch at top of coil spring.test car.no joy,do same to anti roll bar rubber mounts and so on .systematic aproach of all mountings to try and affect a change in knock quality.,not a cure ,a change.when detected u have found source.tracked 1 down once to a worn bolt holding the wishbone bush to chassis tiny ridge on the shank sounded like the side of the car was falling off.noise out of all proportion to size.oil lubricates temporerally.changes sound.takes time to find .diy costs little
