replacement clutch come in 3 parts, plate, diaphram/pressure,and release bearing.all desinged to last the same ammount of time.the only thing whitch can accelerate wear is riding ur left foot on the pedal.causes bearing wear and premature plate wear.the only sure way to check wear is to remove clutch and measure disc thickness.however if,with the hand brake fully on u attempt to pull away the engine will stall if clutch is servicible, ifnot it will start to slip.WARNING this test will vastly shorten what little life u have left in the clutch if it does slip.the labour cost of replacing only the release bearing is the same as a full clutch.either way u have noises when u depress the clutch.doubtfull if any mechanic would do just the bearing.im not infallible but if not ur clutch then its your gbox makeing noises.lots more money!
