how can i find my noise?

i have a transit lwb 02 plate.there is a winding noise.if i let off the accelarater it goes or free rolling,im told its the layer shaft bearings???

quite possible.buy a tin of gearbox oil additive wynns or similar and pour into gbox,if noise changes then its one of the shafts possibly the LAY shaft bearings.fair size job.not cheap.
