hi over the last 100 miles my scenic has pooped out of fifth gear twice now whilst driving on the motorway at 70 mph just had new clutch,driveshaft now mechanic says its gearbox think hes trying to have my pants down any ideas what it is and roughly how much it will cost to get repaired? cheers for the help this site has been great so far saving me a few quid

The mechanic may well be right, but a couple of things to check. 1) Worn engine mountings can cause the engine / box to move excessively, moving the linkage 2) The linkage may not be adjusted correctly in the first place, which could cause the gear to not be fully engaged. However, if the gear slips out when you are pulling up a hill or accellerating, chances are the synchromesh hubs are worn.
