Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000, problem with video output?

Just installed Microsoft VX-3000 webcam on Windows XP desktop - everything looks fine at my end when using Skype but the person on the other end has a broad vertical yellow band through the middle of the picture. They have no problems when Skyping other people.
