I need to replace the indicator stalk on my peugeot 406, I have removed all that was necessary to get to the stalk. I am flumuxed as to how i get it out now, I have removed the 2 screws that hold it in place, this allows the stalk to slide to the left, but the dash is in the way. I need to figure out how to unclip 2 plugs that plug into the back of the stalk...please help me get this stalk out:-(

Hi, I did as Nick Baker did, but instead of spraying switch cleaner used isopropyl alcohol to clean all terminal contacts and remove excess grease. The plugs at the back of the switch can be a pain but there is a slot on one side of each plug where a small screwdriver can slip in and release them.

NB Care needs to be taken when removing the top of the switch mechanism as the locating lugs need to remain intact. Also be careful when putting the mechanism back together that the lighting switch mechanism is correctly located.

Do you have an adjustable steering column? If so - move the steering wheel towards you (ie pull the wheel) and it should move away from the dash to give enough space to slide the stalk out.

Hi it is possible to remove the stalk by sliding up as far as it will go and twisting it to get it in the right position,it is easer to get to the plugs after you have released the stalk, also it is possible to repair the switch by releasing the top cover with a small flat screwdriver and cleaning out the metallic impregnated greace that is the cause of the problem you can use WD40 or switch cleaner and come rag or kitchen roll I did mine yesterday and it is working fine again, GOOD LUCK.

Hi Gary,the cable plugs have a ridge on them so you need to sqeeze this part of the plug to remove them.You will have just enough room to slide the stalk out of its holder after removing the two torx screws.
