Is the auxillary belt the same as the timing belt?

I have a Nissan Micra SI 1998

When I took my car in for its annual service I was told that the auxillary belt was starting to perish and would need doing.

I had this done and found out that there are in fact 2 belts. Which were both replaced.

What I would like to know is whether the auxillary belt is the same as the timing belt or is this a different part that will also need to be replaced?

Thanks

The aux belt drives the alternator, water pump and air con if fitted)...this is the one that usually requires replacing as it tends to squeal if too slack and then frays. The timing belt shouldn't need changing until 60,000 miles or so covered.
