Not Spinning?

Hi All,
I'm an Electrician. The mach is not spinning it turns when on cycle but not spinning at the end. Taken the motor out brush's are worn. Is there any way of testing that this is the problem or can some one confirm? Where can i get new brush's from??

You don't say which machine it is. If it turns but doesn't spin then it could be a blocked drain pump if there is water in the drum at the end of the cycle.
If it doesn't spin with no water in the drum , then it's either it's either brushes ( carbons) , a control board or a broken wire to the motor.
Clean the armature with either meths or the finest emery cloth. stretch the springs and wire attached to the carbons and try the motor without the belt. The carbons may spark and if the motor goes into spin mode then replace the carbons stating the machine model number. Better still . take the carbons with you to the nearest washing machine spares shop in the yellow / golden pages.

If the m/c is washing but not spinning the problem is usually that the water has not completely emptied,or the water pressure switch has not operated. This last problem is sometimes caused by soap powder blocking the air pipe going to the pressure switch. All the best.

stretch the brushes by pulling hard on the carbon bit and then refit old brushes.if it now spins ok then replace brushes straight away or you will damage the motor but at least you will know that this is the only problem if it works ok.
