How can I fix Kenmore Power-Mate Jr. attachment?

Have Kenmore progressive model116 power-mate Jr. attachment has no rotation of brush/motor. I have checked and if I plug in the floor attachment it does recieve power from main unit. Has anyone else had problems or fixes?

Sometimes the center tube in the handle can break, causing the connector to push further into the handle. This can also cause connection problems.

Likely to be a bad connection in the hose swivel or broken switch slide in the hose handle.
