Need to rub down Break Pipes!!!?

Can anyone please advise me of the best method to remove pitting from Air break pipes on a Bedford TL. I dont want to damage them but the last MOT said we needed to get them rubbed back. If I do rub them back, what do I use to do this and what do I then coat them with as I have also been told I can't paint them! Please dont get to techinical! xx.

im supprised they let u do that.anyway.scotchbrite pads are an impregnated woven sanding/cleaning pad used in motor trade refinishing and availiable in different grades(red or grey would be my pick)from vehicle refinishing suppliers.best bet for coating would be graphite base grease, waterproof ,removable and easy to coat/reapply.sticks like s****t to a blanket.hands included, use gloves.

If you must do these, use a very fine grade of emery cloth, or wet and dry paper. Be aware though, that any rubbing down must make them weaker......anyway, afterwards coat them with chassis wax from Waxoyl or something similar.
