rover 25 steptronic gearbox has a whirring/purring noise when engaged but drives fine, it was reconditioned and replaced in 2006. Could do with some info on whether it is done for or not.
It's the secondary bearing. Repair is quick and cheap.
Have had this job done on two Rovers (200 CVT and 25 IL Steptronic). Cost less than £150.

Hi there, Seems we both have the same sounding problem, i am told by the rover dealer(now a nissan dealer) that it is the diff bearings within the gearbox?
