Why the washing machine does not spin? Does the carbon motor brushes gone? or the drain pump?

On Hotpoint front loaders, if it washes but won't spin it's usually brushes.

Replace with laminated Hotpoint brushes, which are harder wearing and cost about £10 for a pair.
