how can i fix my ldv van side door?

i'm having trouble with the side door on our ldv pilot, the door won't open with the handle i think the mechanism may be broken

if you remove door trim panel and follow link rod from handle it fits into a white plastic connector ,its possible that it has become detached-it pushes in at right angle, if it has try to fit cable ties round it to stop it happenlng again.
