After a house fire last year, the contractor who did the repair installed two new shower stalls. Both are leaking. Due to heavy smoke damage, the sheet rock in the entire house was removed down to the studs and the tub/shower unit/stall was replaced with new. They are 4 piece units, consisting of the tub, and 3 wall pieces (front, side and back piece). Ever since we moved back into house (approx. 3 months) the showers have leaked. It is so bad the sheetrock is wet and has caused a hole to develop. The wet area in the sheetrock is at both ends of the tub/shower unit where the shower walls sit/meet the tub unit then it runs out of the sides into the sheetrock. The sheet rock tape is actually falling away from the wall.
The contractor and I have both caulked, then removed old and recaulked the tub letting it set for 4-5 days at a time several times. And the contractor installed shower doors in an attempt to stop the leak. The contractor even suggested the leak is due to my families shower habits, which is obsured because, both showers leak at the same place - at the shower joint. If it was water splashing off our bodies as we shower it would be on the floor, all over the walls, everywhere, but it's not. Both showers leak at the same place where the walls run down and sit on the tub area then out to the side. We have tried to fix it, but the leak is still there. Any suggestions?

In addition to previous, CT1 is flexible and will move with the joints, as stated can be applied in wet conditions (even underwater) once applied will seal immediately. CT1 will not change with change of temperature.

I believe if you check your tub it will be out of level. Causing the water to run down the seams and onto your wall.

Yes, I believe it is the fiber glass tub set you are referring to. By appearance you would think the wall sections just fit together (dosn't appear to be clapped, nailed or otherwise secured)... I had to insist the contractor caulked in the places where it fits together, he was just going to leave it uncaulked.

The sheet rock is NOT green, it is white and his crew has already had to fill in/re-puddy one of the sections. But it still leaks!

The first two times he caulked around the base of the walls, where it meets the tub shelf.. the stuff just washed away. Then he brought something different and it stayed put BUT has gotten thinner or something because now there are gaps in it. So I went to Lowe's and purchased some bathroom silicone and did it myself. Still leaks! I am at a loss!!!

I hope contractor used water proof sheet rock witch is green in color . Not only that but I hope you are talking about the fiber glass tube s that come with the walls did the contractor glue these in placeand you should use a silicone . Does the chauk wash away if yes it is not the right stuff I hope this helps but do not let the contractor blame you
