How do I remove the manafold section there seems to be 2 springs attached to this section which I cannot remove

do you mean exhaust down pipe [this is the only one with 2 springs on] if so there should be 3 nuts fastening it on,if you disconnect it from the 2 bolts just after front silencer, it will swing down for easier access. you may need to use a hex socket as they usually round off!
