2001 Ford Focus central locking fault?

the remote central locking does not work from the key fob. changed the battery and this made no difference.
can you please assist

Had the same fault with mine was advised by my brother who deals in cars that it is a common fault and that if I adjusted the boot locking mechanism slightly - would find that it corrected the fault. Tried it (just tightened up the boot locking mechanism) and it worked.
