How can I prevent my battery from dying?

I have a Murray Riding lawn mower and I have a chronic problem with my battery being dead. I have changed the battery at least 3 times in the last 3 years. I just changed it two weeks ago and it looks like it is drained again. What can be causing this? What can I do to fix the problem without having to take it into the shop? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i'm haveing the same problem. I think the problem might be a bad solenoid.
