I moved into my first home about a year and a half ago. When I moved in there was an exsisting alarm system in place. When I tried to have monitoring reconnected, I was told that there would be additional expenses. The amount was more than it would cost me to buy a new alarm system. I found one that I can buy and install myself but now I need to know how to disconnect/remove the old one.

if you can install a new alarm system you should know how to remove an old alarm system. remove all power to the alarm system ( mains and battery ).
