How to fix a 19.5hp Craftsmen Riding Mower with a fuel problem?

I have a Craftsmen 19.5hp Riding Lawn Mower. It wont start, however, if I put fuel directly into the carburator it will. So I replaced the fuel filter and still no luck. Is there a fuel pump on these things? I can't seem to see one but wonder. Please help. It was made in 98 I think.

The problem is fixed. I replaced the fuel line and filter. It was cracked and you would not of known unless you took the cover off of that side of the engine. It ran for 2 hours great. Then it died...dead battery. At that moment, I placed a battery charger on it. It was well on it's way to still need a new battery though. I put a new one on and tada, nothing. Just a high pitched whine sound and not even a click. That's when my kids told me my son played with the charger while it was attatched!@#$% He apparently put it onto 75 amps! So now, not even a new battery helps. I have traced the wires and do not know why it is dead, unless it is the starter or something? Help...please.

Hi Jeff,

I have a Craftsman 16.5 HP mower and I am also having a problem where it won't start. Where did you put the fuel into the carb?

Also when you say "Won't start", does that mean it cranks but won't turn over? Because that is what mine is doing.
