new water pump for 1.0 corsa came with rubber seals and gaskets, the old one only had rubber seals. Is this an upgrade to add gaskets, should they be used with gasket cement.

Replacing water pump "and" cambelt .Pump is driven by cambelt.insanity not to do both.Cambelt costs buttons compared to hundereds if it snaps whitch is a definite probability if you only do pump.
