Download adaware free by lavasoft and spybot search and destroy from the safer-networking site. Both are free. Install and update both, run one at a time only - run a scan and fix (follow instructions). Restart your computer and see how you go.

Use Firefox, to it add noscript, and adblock. Basically the internet sites you are visiting are executing scripts on your computer directing it to authorize the applets to run.

activate pop up blocker in your firewall/antivirus, yahoo has a pop up free blocker. i use mcafee.
