craftsman riding mower electric clutch problem?

craftsman 12hp riding mower with electric clutch to engage mowing blades. When blades are engaged the engine stalls out. the blades spin but seems like engine is killed by a switch and not by being bogged down. any ideas? Please e-mail me with any suggestions to rustylayman@hotmail.com

If it is dieing when the blades are engaged, I would assume that you have a kill switch that is causing your problem. The first one I would check is attached to the seat. There will also be one for shifting to reverse. try disconnecting them and see if that solves the problem
