hi there i appear to have a water leak coming into the passenger side footwell when the car is running im not to sure if its a heater matrix problem or something else i dont think its a leak from the windscreen washer because it doesnt smell like that

You dont state vehicle make model or year?
It sounds like a heater matrix or one of the pipe comming from the matrix.
Cause most cars the windscreen washer bottle and hoses are under the bonnet not in the cockpit.
If it is heater matrix try some K-seal it works pretty good at stopping leaks
