How do I wipeout current operating system and reload?

I have an IBM Thinkpad that i bought used. Problem is it has an administrator password protection on it. I would like to clear the hard drive and start new. Is this possible?

Alot of newer model PCs have a built in restore partition that can be accessed to restore the machine to it's factory state. In your case hit the blue button at the Thinkpad splash screen and do a clean install.

Yes just install the new OS over the old one. This is assuming that what you called the Administrator password really is that (Windows Admin) and not a hardware password. The latter are designed to ensure that stolen ThinkPads are scrap.
