indicator fault on nissan primera?

When I am indicating mainly on the left indicator my 2003 nissan primera 1.8 SE starts hesitating, and appears to run lumpy, this goes when indicator goes off.

I have a fault reading PO335 crankshaft circuit problem. Loss of power and using too much fuel any ideas? Thanks

I know that this is the wrong attitude, but I removed the fog light bulb to stop the problem short term and it has worked. To do this, you need a ph screwdriver and a 10mm socket & ratchet to remove the cluster. Whilst you're under there, give it all a good going over with WD40 for good measure and replace any other blown bulbs.

Obviously plan to fix it properly and when I have some spare time during daylight hours, I will be trying this fix (courtesy of NPOC: http://www.npoc.co.uk/forum/p12-rear-light-removal-now-with-simple-earth-fix_topic16533.html).

I had this fault too, only it was caused by the signal unit wired in for my trailer bar indicators that i used for carrying bikes.I took it of as i now use a roof rack and the problem dissappeared.

2004 primera t-spec 2.2 dci Primera. Indicator and break light issue - fault appears to be corrosion on the connector terminals on the rear O/S light cluster, all was ok with indicators until breaking, then the lights all went daft with the fog light indicator on the dash board glowing dimly and the O/S indicator went out and the O/S break light starts to flash very quickly.
Cleaned up the spade terminal on the light board and the spade connector in the terminal block. all is OK now but you only have to wriggle the connector block out slightly and the fault re-appears, so I don't think it will be long before the fault re-occurs, I think the real fix will be a new cluster light board and connector block as I think the corrossion has gone too far. IT SEEMS THAT A BAD CONNECTION OR EVEN FAULTY BULBS CAN CAUSE ALL SORTS OF ISSUES WITH CAR ELECTRICS

thank you everyone for your answers it was corrosion on the spade connectors into the light cluster

I had the same problem 2 yrs ago on my 03 1.8s Primera. I removed the o/s rear light cluster and cleaned up the connections and all was well until a couple of weeks ago. The same car developed a problem with the central locking system. The car for no reason would unlock itself??? Not at regular intervals either day or night the doors would unlock. I went to the original problem (O/S REAR LIGHT CLUSTER) and found that the connections were all black and dirty again so cleaned it up and hope that all is well again. While I was undoing the connector from the lights, the car was going crazy unlocking all the time so I can only guess that this was the problem (A BAD EARTH)? It didn't unlock once after I cleaned things up and put it all back together again.

I have a very similar problem. Apparently Nissan have the bulb casing as stores as they continually go. I had it replaced last year for the indicator issue and need it replaced again because of the break light fault.

This is a common earthing fault in the rear light cluster. Clean all the contacts in the rear bulbs and replace. Strange as it may seem problem should be fixed.

primeradriver, March 2009
common fault on these and it is the rear harness connectors for the lights. the have high resistance and will need new ones

Just had a similar problem when indicating right. It also cut out the cruise control and dashboard lighting amongst others. It turned out to be an earthing problem and needed one of the rear bulb holder's replaceing.

All seems to be OK now

I have exactly the same problem. The car is going into a Nissan main dealer to be looked at soon and I'll let you know what they say.

Experience tells me that they'll have absolutely no idea what the problem is though and will simply change things (and charge me for them) until they fix the problem...... so if anyone has any ideas where the problem lies I'd like to know.
