, Happened to me last summer. Yamaha 800 2001. Got the ski to to shore on a ramp with rollers. Using a socket set, I removed the in take grate. Be careful. The bolts were very soft and there are two sets of two. They are different sizes!!!! BE SURE TO PUT THEM BACK CORRECTLY After removing the bolts, the intake grate came off easily. I used a utility knife to cut the rope,yes (I cut my finger). Again be sure to reinstall the bolts the right way. I mixed them up and overtightened them leaving me with a bill from the dealer when I finally got the ski home.
