My laptop crapped the bed...I want to remove the memory and maybe turn it into an external drive if possible, just to access all of the files I had on there..possible?

I guess you actually mean your Hard Disk Drive? (Memory is something else - RAM)

Unless the computers downfall was caused by the Hard Disk Drive going bad (a common cause of failure) then you can indeed buy an external box into which you can fit your old drive.
