check the one way valve located just to the rear of the fuel filter on a bracket from the cyl head if this is faulty you will have fuel draining back to the tank imposing an unattainable load on the low pressure primary fuel pump in the system

had same problem it was about six little orings that was leaking air into fuel system cost me £100 car has run fine since

Hi. just read john t. answer about fuel lines just replaced mine also sorted . ive had a few mechanics look at it telling me it needs a new ecu or brain that tells when it needs fuel and a new brain about £700 what a load bull they give you .

re starting problems had the same with my ml would not start in the morning mercedes could not sort it being a truck technician myself i went back to basics and checked the fuel system i removed the fuel pipes and inspected the rubber orings on the fuel connections and found they had become flat and hard more so when the outside temp dropped i replaced the three fuel pipes from the filter to the engine problem sorted

Hi, I have the exact same problem, started about 8 weeks ago, did you find what the problem is, my local Mercedes dealer is unable to fix the problem ?

sounds like diesel supply problem ie air in the system slowy getting in over night, get a friend to start it in the morning and look at clear diesel lines for bubbles of air
