i have a brand new battery in my gilera stalker and when i put the key in and turn it the bike is dead can any one help me or have any idea as to what it can be.

I have a 2003 gilera stalker and the back light is very dim howerver when I put full beam on the back light becomes bright

also check to see if the alternator is puttin enough charge in to the battery should be between 13 and 14 volts

Let's get the obvious out the way first.check the main fuses.then check the new battery "is"charged,sometimes the come dry charged,this means no acid in cells.check that.then using an indicator bulb or similar connect direct to battery and see if it lights up.then check all battery terminal connections for clean bright metal to wire.while Im at it use the indicator bulb again on the old battery to check that.after this it gets complicated.
