My LG condenser tumble dryer doesn't heat?

LG condenser dryer model TD-c70080e has stopped heating. Is there a reset button for the thermastat? Or is it something more terminal?

You guys are the total bees knees ! 8 screws on mine, tE3 error, popped the ear, pressed the red button, cleaned up all round and hey presto....!

Thank you !

Jag, March 2016
OMG thanks to all. Pressing the red button worked. I've just been saved a whole lot on dishonest repairmen.

For those who re setted the thermostat a few times n still says "clean filter" check the actual house vent, usually the screen or flap door on the side of the house of the on roof is restricted or clogged up with lint.

Demy, May 2015
Thanks for this information - the manual is singularly unhelpful in this respect.

The thermostat trip has happened for a reason. Check the whole air channel from the intake, through the fans, through the heater at the back (dust/fluff=fire hazard here), past the filter inside the dryer, through the heat exchanger at the bottom (take it out vacuum it and wash any silt off it). Any blockage along this path will cause the heat to build up and trip the thermostat.

hello David White -- I didn't see a solution to your problem posted (message saying condenser needs to be emptied when it is already empty). I have the same problem with my LG RC80551paZ -- did you ever get to the bottom of it?

ross wilson, February 2015
Works like a charm.

Hi folkes . I haave a rc9011b and all I did was unscrew the back panel that looks like a big ear . Removed it and pressed the red trip button in the middle of the machine and guess what folkes it worked . I also cleaned any fluff and dust that was there . I would have had to wait 3 to 4 days for an engineer sat a cost of £50 plus to push that button . Never again . thanks for the advice .

Great! It worked!

Have a LG condenser dryer (rc9011).
Error code: tE3
Symptom: Dryer stops with this error code after a couple minutes after start. You feel no heat at all..

Turned of the electricity
Unscrewed the back
Pushed the red small button.. (You'll hear a little "click"...)
Screwed the back cover back on
Turned on the electricity

...and tried again...

Wohoo!

Why doesn't my lg condenser dryer heat up

Kev, December 2013
I keep having to re-set the red button, the dryer keeps stopping once it gets hot and telling me to clean the filter, I have to open it up and let it cool right down before it will work again. I've cleaned out all filters, emptied water and checked for any other problems, it doesn't seem to be taking the hot air away but I can't find any blockages. Any ideas please.

LindaB, September 2013
fantastic , I was told that it would cost £70 to get a new thermostat then got to be fixed, all I done was take the back panel off the ear shape thing and press the red button lightly, and bingo its all working again. so thanks to you all who know how too

dave, August 2013
great website. just tried, seem works. can't wait to give a thumb up !

JOHN, August 2013

My capacitor arrived, we replaced it, now my tumble dryer works like new. Very happy

Janniz, March 2013
Had the same problem with my TD-C70080E. No heat, so had the element replaced, still the "Clean the filter" button keep beeping, then the Empty water one kept beeping, all filters clean and no water in the thing, turns out a new capacitor is needed. Awaiting delivery tomorrow of capacitor. Will let you know of outcome. LG customer service - waste of time!

Little red thermostat reset button does work to correct the tE3 error code. Disconnect power. The thermostat is located behind the big oval/'ear' shaped cover on the back of the dryer (the one with 7 screws and a 'tab' at the top) When you pop this off, the thermostat will be right there in the middle so it's easy to find. Nothing else there. Clean up any dust or buildup that's in there, press the little red button down (it will 'snap' down) and close 'er back up. Power on and you should be good to go again, provided there isn't something else catastrophic going on.

Blake, January 2013
Hi we tried this -pressing the wee red button on the back, it worked. I put my first load of washing in and it possibly was a little bit more than the 7kg load but mostly towels. It went down to 11 minutes then the continual bleeping of the error message and I had to turn it off. Today - less than 48 hours after reset button pressed, all units hoovered and cleaned out also..... Could this be something more and perhaps more expensive??? Very little heat at all.

I have a TD-C70045E
works for 5 min but then stops saying, empty water, but the water box isnt full and emptying the small amount in it doesnt restart the machine. i have tried undoing the drain tubes at the back and blowing up and down them, this seems to extend the running time to 5 to 10 mins but then the same chime and empty water warning light, can you help?

kam, November 2012
TE3 message on ours too...read your postings and am really chuffed!!! Press the red button guys !!! :)

Elaine Jones, August 2012
I too reset with the red button. Wish it was more accessible.

great website, just back off hols and td would'nt heat, tried reset button and back in business

martin, August 2011
My LG tumble drier was not drying at all so I did what everyone else suggested by opening up the back and pressing the reset button. Chuffed to bits!!! How great the internet can be and thank you guy's for posting stuff like this xx

One of those brilliant websites that just gives you the answer you are looking for. Awesome, thank you. Red Button reset and TD working again :-)

Andy Abroad, February 2011
Thank you all so much! Same tE3 symptoms on my dryer--it would start and then stop with the tE3 error message. Cleaned all the filters, removed the back, pressed the red button, and I'm back to drying! Excellent easy fix, particularly since the repair man can't come fix it for 10 days--and that's WITH the extended service plan.

Jennifer, February 2011
We are getting the same message 'clean filter' after pressing the red button. Does this mean that the motor is gone?

J Loyal, October 2010
so glad I read this! We have an LG condenser dryer (rc9011), 11 days out of it's warranty and it stopped working. First I noticed it had been on a bit too long and wasn't hot so stopped it, then kept getting an error code tE3 when I tried to get it going again. I had visions of expensive repairs and lengthy waits, but took the back off, pressed the red button and voila! It works. Made my day!

Laura, September 2010
Thank you all. A flick of the switch and lo and behold the heater is working. I was about to order another tumble dryer this morning but decided to go onto the Net to see what I could find. So simple, so easy. What a huge saving.

Lynn, June 2010
My problem from last year was fixed by fitting new "capacitor(sp?)" - this is the gismo that gives the drum a "kick start" on start up. Has worked fine since.

Box, May 2010
I am in Spain, the last call-out I had to fix my Tumble dryer heater was 76 euros! I was conned, reading your comments regarding pressing the red button was too simple to be true, guess what it now works great!
Many thanks, Paul.
Ps. They must have done the same, which took 4 minutes.

Grateful ex-pat., April 2010
I have same problem as box, little red button worked a couple of times, but clean filter light keeps flashing, everything clean, had it all stripped down but no joy, even tried a good kick but didn't seem to work. Any ideas??

Gannet, September 2009
wow it worked 4 me too thanx so much this such useful info to a poor single parent, im sure i would have been charged a fortue for a flick of a switch!!

lee, August 2009
I also reset, twice, using the "little red button" - it worked for a couple of loads - now I have a constant "clean filter" flashing on my TDC70080E. Filter is spotless, condenser clean - can't get it to start - any ideas?

Box, August 2009
yes if you unscrew the long panel on the back of the machine there is a little red push button on the top of the heater

Richard, July 2009
Thank you so much I have just fixed my drier in 10 mins. It cost me £75 last time it did this when I got an engineer in. Thank you

Shell, June 2009
Same problem with my Model TDC70045E. Same solution. Unscrew the bulbous metal plate and press small red button on connection point of wires. Hey presto !! back in action

Stavros, March 2009
There is a reset button but it's not readily visible.
At the back of the machine is a large oval shape tin cover, unscrew & remove this (drier unplugged) and at the top is a reset button.

Jenny, August 2008
had the same problem, unscrewed back and reset Thermostat
