i have a 029 super but when started it soon dies when given any throttle. also very difficult to keep idling. tried adjusting carb. settings. no difference. cleaned carb. no help. it worked fine one day and then the next it wouldn't. help, scratching my head.

Try changing the plug,it may be Fouled?
Is gas older then 6 months? even with a stabilizer it can go bad. Change it!
If this doesn't work get a carb rebuild kit or have it done at a Stihl dealer!
By the way the 029S is the best mid size saw out there for homeowner/Pro use.
