How do I fix Caravan handbrake ratchet failure?

Our van is on an Alko chassis. 1992 Avondale. The handbrake ratchet has stopped working. The lever does not engage with the cog. I can get it to work if I use a screwdriver to push the lever into the gog. It will release ok with the button. Any ideas??

Hi, You will need to replace the handbrake itself. You will be able to get a new one from a caravan dealer for about £29 ... fitting it isnt difficult, if your not confident your dealer should be able to fit it for you.
