AEG Lavatherm 57700?

My Lavatherm 57700 tumble dryer has stopped getting hot when i turn it on and hence does not dry the clothes. I have been told this is likely to have been caused by a broken thermostat does anybody know how to change the thermostat on one of these machines? is it some thing I could do myself?

I have a 57560 which has the heating element behind the cover on the rear. This has a temperature 'fuse' which blew (this is a common tumble dryer fault). Also, there was heat damage to the heater. Cost of a new heater is £180!!!
