boiler death?

thunder & lightning storm last friday awoke to no boiler visual display ,replaced blown fuse & it kept on blowing was informed by shop that a number of people had complained that their fans had stopped working , checked ours & ours had stopped .was informed that a new fan is £200 plus.
any ideas

disconnect fan, turn on boiler and see if fuse still blows, if not, sure thing u need new fan, and this must be fitted and test by someone who has the correct equipment to test the boiler, if not you may not wakeup at all to find anything on your boiler...!
