Is the motor fixable on my sani-shower?

I have a sani-shower pump on my shower in the basement. The pump seems to keep pumping and doesn't turn itself off. It seems as if the pump is trying to pump the water away but not managing this - so keeps retrying. It is 5 years old but hasn't had a great deal of use. Is it possible to test the strength of the motor?

The problem may not be the motor. There is a level switch which goes between the motor and the mains. When the mucky water in the Sanishower unit reaches a certain level, the switch operates and cuts in the motor. I'm guessing it switches off at a lower water level. It's possible the level switch is faulty and keeps the motor permanently ON.
