can you replace the part of the corner steady that the threaded winding rod goes through to bring corner leg up and down or do you have to replace the full corner steady

You've got to take it off anyway to work on it so remove it see what's gone wrong and a local garage may be able to help. Don't forget the WD40 on the retaining nuts. Buy a new one at around £54 or find a breaker. You will obviously need the same type to match the bolt holes.
