How do I remove the Winder from a battery operated watch?

My girlfriends wrist watch has some dust on the inside of the glass. I removed the back and blasted it with a can of air used to clean computer components, like graphics cards. the problem is, it did not remove all of the dust and I think I need to remove the winder to get it all out. Can anyone please give me details on how to remove the winder and take out the mechanism to clean the watch, and how to put the winder back in.

There are a few different catches / releases for the winder. Some do as Pete mentioned have a detente that you push with a pin. Some you gently lift to release the winder. And on some of the older watches, there is a set screw. It is almost always close to where the winder meets the mechanism.

first you have to remove the back then .. (this is from limited experience of removing the winder from my Accurist battery watch) .. with the inner working exposed, about a third of the way in from the winder, you press part of the thin metal case (use blunt needle) and that seems to release a catch which lets you remove the winder.

Perhaps other watches are different.
